About Taste & See at North Beach

Taste & See is an opportunity to explore the timeless, good news of Jesus with friends through a series of meals around the table.

Over four weeks and four different meals, we examine four big ideas about God around the table. Each meal illustrates part of the grand narrative of the bible’s storyline. It is an invitation to engage all the senses and experience for yourself the beauty of God’s story as we ‘eat our way through the bible’. Along the way we tap into questions of meaning, purpose and hope and hear God’s generous invitation to ‘life to the full’.

What to Expect

Each week, you will enjoy good food, good conversation, and a thought-provoking presentation. There will be opportunities to hear personal faith stories, toss around some big ideas, ask questions, raise doubts, or just quietly listen in. Curiosity is welcomed. • Can I pay for the services or donate?
To maintain transparency, we don't accept payment for our services. Please don't offer gifts or payments to our volunteers, as they will be politely declined.
  • What help can your volunteers offer?
Our volunteers can assist with simple home tasks like gardening, cleaning, and cooking. We also offer companionship (e.g., sharing a coffee or going for a walk) and non-medical transportation (e.g., to church or the shops).
  • What can't your volunteers do?
For safety and logistical reasons, our volunteers cannot handle waste removal, transport items, provide medical transport (e.g., to/from hospitals or doctor's appointments), offer childcare, give financial assistance, or prepare and deliver meals.
  • How much does this cost?
Our services are free, offered as a practical expression of God's love to the people of Perth.
  • Who is eligible for support?
We support anyone in Perth's northern suburbs facing genuine hardship, regardless of the cause (e.g., illness, financial strain, bereavement, frailty). We ask that you request our services only if you are experiencing such hardship.
  • Where do you provide support?
We serve Perth's northern suburbs, specifically from Perth CBD in the south to Alkimos in the north, and as far east as Morley/Ballajura. We cannot assist those outside these areas.
  • How long does the support last?
Our support is short-term, usually involving a few visits (typically 2-3) per person. We don't replace long-term support options like the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.
  • Do I need to be Christian to receive support?
No. We support people of all backgrounds, regardless of faith or beliefs. Our volunteers may share their faith or offer to pray, but there's no pressure to engage if you're not interested.
  • Can I request support for someone else?
Yes, with their consent. Complete our referral form together.
  • What happens after I submit the referral form?
f we can help, a volunteer will contact the person needing assistance to introduce themselves, discuss their needs and triage the case. We'll then arrange for volunteers to provide support. If you referred someone else, we'll keep you updated.
  • What safety precautions do you take?
All our volunteers have current clear Police Checks and are screened by our church. Volunteers usually work in pairs for accountability and safety.
  • Who can I contact with questions?
Contact our Operations Team at communitycare@nbbc.org.au, and we'll respond within a couple of days.
