Apart from your 3 key areas, are you able to assist in any other ways?As a volunteer-run ministry, we have chosen to offer support in 3 key areas only; Non-Medical Transport (eg: transport to/from church or shopping) Help at Home (eg: gardening, cleaning, simple home maintenance, technology setup or cooking) Companionship (eg: conversation over coffee or walking) Please note we are unable to assist in other areas including child minding, medical transport (to/from hospital or doctor's appointments), food hampers, financial support, waste removal & transport of items. We do maintain a list of external service providers who may be able to offer assistance in other areas (below). Our church also has a separate ministry which can provide meals to people in need. Please give the church a ring on 9447 7018 if we can help you in that way.
-
What times and days are you able to provide the support? Our volunteers have a wide range of availability – including on weekends. Our online form will ask you to be clear on the times, days and frequency that the support is required (please be as flexible as possible). We will then try and match your needs with some of our volunteers who can assist.
-
What areas of Perth can you provide support in?We can provide support in and around the northern suburbs of Perth (as far south as the city and as far north as Alkimos).
-
How long are you able to provide support for?All support provided by our volunteers will be short term in nature, generally coming to an end after a few visits. Our support is not designed to replace or duplicate longer term services offered by government or community organisations (including Home Care Packages and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme). If there is a continuing need that we cannot meet, our volunteers will do their best to suggest an external service provider from our list (below) who might be able to help.
-
Can I refer someone else who could benefit from your support?Absolutely! Please ask them to contact us on communitycare@nbbc.org.au or 0480 096 411. Alternatively, you can complete our online form on their behalf with their consent (here).
-
Do I have to be a Christian or interested in Christianity to request support? No. Our volunteers all have a Christian faith, but we provide support and care to people from all walks of life irrespective of things like faith or worldview. Our volunteers may offer to share their faith or pray with people, but we never apply pressure to anyone who is not interested to do so.
-
How do you handle my private information? All the information you share with us is stored securely on our church’s Microsoft cloud accounts. It is accessible only to the volunteers and/or church leaders who are involved in providing the support.
-
What safety precautions do you have in place? All our volunteers are screened by the church and hold a current Working with Children Check and WA Police Clearance. Our volunteers generally provide support in pairs for safety and accountability purposes.
-
Do you have a policy on gifts? As part of our desire to be completely transparent, our volunteers cannot accept any gifts. To avoid embarrassment we ask that gifts are not offered, as they will be politely declined.
-
